This is the outcome of leaping before looking. Abuse is inevitable when you get engaged to a spouse out of pity, selfish interest, coerce, or probably, without seeking the face of the Lord for a partner.
After the paparazzi of wedding; the spending and glamour, you are left alone to face the reality of staying wedded. This is the moment where you’ve got to swallow every mistakes and failure, enjoy the rest of your life with your chosen spouse, cope with all manners of attitudes that were not visible during courtship.
The sermon of the Priest is no longer at play at this stage. And family members, those that contributed to your union, have retired to their various hidden holes, awaiting the next storylines. Whether sweet or sour, they have no say anymore. You are now alone with the love of your life. So, what would be your next move?
Marriage is sweet, trust me! The story of Joke Silver and Olu Jacob is one of the many attestations to the claim. However, we only base our love affairs on the sad incidents of untrained fellow who ended up in marriage just for the fun and beauty of it – not for the significance of the existence of man. Little wonder you see many broken homes in the society today. This scourge has discouraged a lot of people and jinxed more people to believe that marriage is a living hell. It is true only when only with your belief. Jesus said to a fellow in the bible saying “Let it be unto you according to your belief (faith).”
Love encompasses a variety of different emotional and mental states, typically strongly, and positively experienced, ranging from the deepest interpersonal affection to the simplest pleasure. It is dynamic in nature. Love is a feeling of strong attraction and personal attachment which is clothed in human kindness and compassion. Have you ever being in Love before? If you have, then you’ll understand this message better.
Love is in four stages (forms) as opined by Ancient Greek Philosophers namely:
- Familial or Storge Love – refers to natural or instinctual affection, e.g. Love of parents towards offspring and vice versa.
- Friendly Love or Philia – often translated as brotherly love, friendship or affection but its complete opposite is Phobia (fear).
- Romantic Love or Eros – refers to passionate love or romantic love.
- Divine Love or Agape – refers to the highest form of love, charity and the love of God for man and of man for God. This is the greatest of the love that has ever existed.
Whether infatuated Love, self-love, or courtly love, the point here is that you should understand the concept of love before venturing into any marriage contract. Hence, you should be ready to face the reality of the decision you’re about to make or have made.

It is never about what people would say that matters but what the outcome of your decision would be! Like the above feature image, it is crystal clear that the man did not know what his decision would produce not until when he found himself being dragged to the police station by his lovely wife. Well, it could be a mere metaphor, yet I have seen more than what is painted by AFRICAGAG. This happens as a result of not setting priorities right before deciding to paint the town red and white.
The image above says it all. It is self-explanatory. The scenario painted is mostly faced by the feminine folks. Most women are daily battered and abused by the masculine folks all in the name of endurance and love. Some ladies would say – what would people say if I finally choose to leave him? What would happen to our children? Would people laugh at me?
Anyways, I have seen more than mouth could say. The fact is that you should define what you want from the beginning of the relationship before you finally see yourself standing before the priest for the I-do-I-do thing.
I wish you the very best if you are still searching or have finally found your heartthrob. You can show your love by sharing this post to better the lot of someone out there. And you can also share your thought on this.
