Q. Who’s Kenny K’ore?

Kenny K’ore is Kehinde Olumide Akinbode. I’m a Yoruba man from Abeokuta in Ogun State, Nigeria. I’m moderately educated, a musician by trade for over two decades, a husband, and father to two delightful girls.

Q. What’s your view on the word “Lifestyle”?

The way a person lives; their likes and dislikes, and the choices they’re prone to make is what lifestyle is. I believe that the lifestyle of complete obedience to the Will of God which Jesus Christ modeled for us is the best lifestyle. It’s not the most glamorous, or self-gratifying, but it’s the most meaningful, because it brings out the best in us, the fruit of the Spirit like love, gentleness, patience, peace, etc, and it promises eternity with GOD in the hereafter.

Q. As a gospel artiste with a touch of difference, how has the journey been like?

As a Gospel musician, I’ve learned that I’ll make a success of anything I venture into, be it marriage, parenting, career, and so on, the only way Jesus made a success of His mission on earth; by surrendering TOTALLY to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This has helped me to see that my flesh is my greatest enemy, it rarely wants to obey GOD, so I daily fight the good fight of faith, bringing my SELF under, subjecting every thought and imagination to the Will of GOD.

Q. What were your greatest failure and what did they teach you?

My greatest failure to date would be every time that I could have obeyed GOD but didn’t because I let my FLESH get in the way.

Q. What drives you to keep going when it’s really tough?

What keeps me going though is the RUACH, the very Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead, quickening my mortal body, replacing my wicked heart of stone, with a heart that is increasingly tender to the Will of GOD.

Q. What’s your take on impact of gospel music on the society?

If Gospel musician would keep to the Word of God, our music would be eternally powerful. Many of us (gospel musicians) needs to realise this fact.

Q. Do you think music is an agent of change in the society and why?

Music is a powerful tool of social change because it cuts across all social bias, and help us remember. If you hear a great sermon twenty years ago and hear a great song twenty years ago, you’re more likely to remember the song.

And because the Bible says we should guard our hearts with all diligence for out of it comes the issues that shape our lives, and faith comes by what we hear, a fantastic, biblically agreeing music library sure would do our souls great healing. And it’s easy to do in today’s digital age, most of our phones have enough memories to take thousands of life-changing songs.

Q. What’s that discouraging factor of being a gospel artiste and how have you overcome it?

The major discouraging thing about being a gospel artist is that your music distribution and band engagement is mostly tied to the denominations, as such, the pastors are the promoters, and if you fall out with a pastor, (right or wrong) your career will be over, except GOD decides to just show off HIS Power with your life.

Q. What’s ONE thing you recommend ALL aspiring or current artistes do right now to take their music/singing career to the next level?

I recommend that any artist who wants to be successful in his/her career should take Joshua 1:8, very very seriously. READ YOUR BIBLE, MEDITATE, PRAY, TRUST, and OBEY GOD.
