VANITY – Part 1

I see them adorning their bodies
Their beauty, they worship adorably
In the seeming doubt of everyone’s eyes
Magnifying a mere “CLAY” kingly. – (
Genesis 3:19)

Sirach says,
“We’re only dust and ashes” –
Meaning, if you’re fair in complexion,
You’re made from a “RED” clay,
And if you’re dark in complexion
Definitely, you’re made from “BLACK” clay –
Then what have we got to be proud of?
……………………………
Our body decays
Even while we’re alive,
Producing wrinkles and sores
Yet we walk like a dead-man alive?

……………………………
Google-search the universe
Search intensely into the uneven globe,
That which looks like a bath throb,
You’ll be amazed at your findings.
 ……………………………
We daily eat junks
But spend endlessly on our bodies,
Just to please the eyes,
Yet Christ admonished – (
Matthew 6:25)
“Isn’t life worth more than food?
And isn’t the body worth more than clothes?”
Lest from the dust we were formed
And unto the dust shall we return –
Taking turn by turn, by turn and by turn!
……………………………
Life and beauty are meaningfully meaningless!

……………………………
When a person dies
His remains attract
Worms and flies
And big-big maggots.

……………………………
If our assumptions are true,
Then the scripture is fulfilled –
Interpreting thus:
Our souls are the lives.
It belongs to God, not the devil or ourselves –
It’ll go back to God!

This poem is written by Sylvester OthukeThe poem is just an illustration of what this life is all about. Even if you gain the whole world, you’ll certainly forfeit it when the GOLDEN CALL comes through. No one shall escape death and no one will take anything along when death comes upon one!

Therefore, the little time you still have on earth, why not invest it in the lives of the needy. Remember that your gatherings today will certainly be others’ loots. I rest for now, hoping to hear your view on this short poem.
